Running a campsite sounds idyllic, right? Birds singing, campers smiling, marshmallows roasting over a fire… but let’s be honest — the ducks may glide serenely across the pond, but their feet are paddling like mad underneath.

The Hard Work Nobody Sees

While guests wake up to fresh air and birdsong, the team here has already been at it since near sunrise. Grass doesn’t mow itself , and pitches don’t magically tidy up after a weekend rally. From unblocking the occasional over enthusiastic loo to stringing up fairy lights in gale-force winds, it’s a labour of love — emphasis on both labour and love.

From Campfires to Champagne

Of course, it’s not all about keeping the toilets shiny. Our campsite has doubled as a wedding venue, where brides have partied away the day after saying “I do” against a backdrop of rolling fields (and, once, a slightly confused cow). We’ve hosted club rallies, where convoys of caravans roll in like a cheerful armada, complete with flags, BBQs, and enough laughter to power the national grid. And in between, we have the steady hum of normal camping and caravanning life — families toasting marshmallows, kids making new friends and playing, and the quiet joy of a cup of tea outside the tent at sunrise.

Why We Do It

The truth is, 7 Ducks isn’t just a campsite. It’s a little slice of community. Every rally, wedding, and bank holiday caravan queue adds to the story. Sure, it’s hard work — the kind of work that leaves you with grass stains, mud on your boots, and the occasional sunburn — but when we see our guests heading home with tired smiles and happy memories, we know why we do it.
